Depending on the seriousness of the problem, the pain can last for as long as 30- 60 minutes. These are calcium deposits that piles up in the ureter, the tube that links the ureter to the bladder. They block the flow of urine and it is the pressure of the held up urine that causes pain. The pain is generally periodic and not a steady continuous pain.

Once the problem is detected, a tube is inserted in the urinary tract for allowing urine to pass. This lessens down the pain to a great extent.

Pyelonephritis – This pain typically comes along with fever, pain during urinating, high palpitation, fever, pain in the abdomen and back, pain in ankle. This infection is caused when the bacteria travels up the urinary tract into the bladder and then infects the kidney.

Renal Colic – this pain is usually felt in the flank region as it is caused due to kidney stones and is difficult to be left undiagnosed. Although, the pain may last for only a couple of hours or a dull pain throughout the day, patients know it very well as they experience pain during urinating.

Polycystic disease – this is a hereditary disease which leads to enlargement of the kidneys over a period of time. If this condition is allowed to develop with proper treatment, it leads to kidney failure. This can cause a dull pain in the lower abdomen.

Kidney Cancer – two most common kidney cancers are – UCC (urothelial cell carcinoma) and RCC (renal cell carcinoma) among the other types that occur. Kidney cancers are usually rare, accounting to just 2% of all the other types of cancer. When the cancer grows it presses or puts pressure on the surrounding nerves and organs, causing pain.

So how do you know if your pain is a real kidney pain?

Well, there is no sure shot way to know this, but there are probable symptoms associated with it that help you to be sure on your pain.

Although, kidney pain cannot be completely diagnosed at home, there are few symptoms to immediately see your doctor.

You should call for an immediate appointment when you have:

  • Persistent, mild one side pain on your back or flank
  • Any sudden fever, lethargy or body aches
  • Any previous history of urinary tract infection.

It is usually a blood clot in your kidney that causes the sudden pain in your lower abdomen and there are probabilities of blood traces in your urine. Although, this is uncommon, any alteration in the regular functioning of your kidney should be considered as an emergency.

If you have a sweet tooth, try substituting most of your sugary foods with fruits. Berries would be a great choice-they are very sweet and high in anti-oxidants, known to combating aging.  Also, instead of using refined sugar to sweeten your drinks or foods, use agave nectar. Agave nectar is sweeter than sugar and has a low glycemic index.  I use the Whole Foods brand of Agave nectar.  You can even substitute Agave Nectar for sugar in baking pastries.  It tastes amazing over organic, gluten-free waffles and french toast. I also dip my strawberries in the Whole Foods Agave Nectar.  In fact, a nice substitute  to cinnamon rolls is a slice of gluten free cinnamon raisin bread sprinkled with Agave Nectar. Mmmmmmmm so good!


Master Cleanse Detox Diet Results 10 Days

The Master Cleanse or the LeMaster Cleansemonade Diet  was developed by Stanley Burroughs, a former alternative medicine practitioner. About two years ago, I did the Master Cleanse for 10 days. Stanley Burroughs recommends doing the cleanse for a minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 40 days.  The purpose of the cleanse is to detoxify our bodies of the accumulated toxins, metals, and mucus. The cleanse is also used to break bad habits such as drug, alcohol, or caffeine addictions.  I personally did the cleanse because I was feeling very fatigued during graduate school.  I would sleep an abnormal 12 hours a day. I was always hungry and never seemed to be satisfied with the amount of food I ate.  I couldn’t start my day without coffee.  I had tried the Master Cleanse twice before actually succeeding and doing it for 10 days. The first two times I couldn’t get past day 2.  It requires a lot of mental preparation beforehand.  However, by the third attempt I was so fed up with my poor physical and mental conditions, that I was extremely determined to stay focused and finish the cleanse.  The cleanse consists of purified water, freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice, grade B maple syrup, and cayenne pepper.  Before going to bed you have to drink a laxative tea and drink a sea salt water flush in the morning.  Built up toxins are released through several bowl movements.  In fact, many overweight people who are on the Master Cleanse release 10-20 pounds of built up fecal matter.

 

Master Cleanse Results 10 Days

Days 1-3 were the toughest for me.  My body was getting extremely fatigued and I had sever migraines as the toxins were being released from my body. This is normal.  Some people even start vomiting.  I was also getting severe hunger pangs but kept moving.

On Day 4 I was starting to feel the positive affects of the cleanse.  My mind felt clear, my body felt lighter, and for the first time my apartment was very organized and clean. It’s amazing how our physical and mental well-being can reflect in our surroundings.

On day 5 of the cleanse I felt severe hunger pangs.  I was ready to quit.  I started rummaging through my cabinets for any food I could find but remembered that I had cleared my kitchen of food in order to ensure my success in finishing the master cleanse.  In an effort to calm down my stomach, I gulped down my bottle of the mixture. Ten minutes later I felt this intense feeling of joy. It was a rush of endorphins released in my body that put me on cloud nine. I had never felt like this before. I was so happy! My mind felt the most clear is has ever felt in a long time. Most importantly, I had a natural surge of energy consistently for the rest of the 10 days.

I do recommend people do the Master Cleanse if they are in reasonably good health and check with a doctor before doing it.  However, I do NOT recommend it be used for weight loss purposes.  Although I did lose about ten pounds during the ten days, I gained back the weight in a week. The Master Cleanse is a good means of removing built up toxins and rejuvenating the body. You will have noticeably healthier skin and your overall well-being will improve.

When the reason of fibromyalgia remains unknown, there are intriguing theories on why a person may have developed Fibromyalgia, including a car crash or another serious injury, (such as a repetitive strain injury like carpal tunnel syndrome) infections, from a virus, bacteria or mycoplasma, (which are a group of parasitic microorganisms that in some respects are intermediate between viruses and bacteria), auto-immune systems out of control, a traumatic event, (such as a very difficult pregnancy), any extreme life-threatening illness, hormones, or biochemicals gone awry. Fibromyalgia may have multiple causes.

Some researchers feel that the onset of fibromyalgia can come from previous physical or sexual abuse. Others believe fibromyalgia is caused by a deficit in the neurotransmitter serotonin. Still others feel it is a central-nervous-system dysfunction. Most people say that it was an event or events that triggered the beginning of their illness.

Whether it’s primarily fibromyalgia that comes over time or post-traumatic fibromyalgia from being in an automobile accident, a fall, or some other type of trauma, the link between trauma and fibromyalgia have come to be accepted. No one knows, as of now, how physical trauma or abuse triggers fibromyalgia. It is surmised that it could be that the body’s stress response is shocked. In turn the stress response rushes to help the body resist the trauma by mobilizing hormones and neurochemicals. The body is reacting to this traumatic event and then when the traumatic event is over, the reaction keeps going (which is really called over- reacting).

There are triggers that do not cause fibromyalgia, though they can cause a person’s pain to become greater and also retain pain longer than individuals without the fibromyalgia. These triggers include stress, lack of sleep, depressions, and anxiety.

Could I Be Suffering From Another Disease?

Yes there are other medical problems that are confused with Fibromyalgia, such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, thyroid disease, myofacial pain syndrome, Lyme disease or other common (or not so common) illnesses.

Even physicians can get confused when they’re working on a diagnosis. One good reason is that some of the same symptoms can be part of many illnesses. For instance, one of your symptoms may be extreme tiredness, even though you haven’t been doing anything. This is a possible symptom of a thyroid problem, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lyme disease and Fibromyalgia.

Be aware that trained physicians initially may diagnose Fibromyalgia when, in reality, it is another problem, or the very opposite could happen – sometimes a diagnosis of another medical condition is given when its actually Fibromyalgia that you are suffering from. Even harder to diagnose is the person who has Fibromyalgia but also has one of the other conditions as well.

It is also possible, though far less common, to have a medical problem called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities Syndrome, or Mononucleosis.

To be on the safe side, it is good to have a basic understanding of these other diseases that are often confused with Fibromyalgia, and then you will be better prepared when you meet with your doctor.
